Project Summary

The Erie-St. Clair and Waterloo Wellington Regional Cancer Programs utilized components of the original Flu-FOBT program originally designed at the University of California, San Francisco. The original study was an intervention that involved offering FOBT kits during influenza vaccination clinics held by physician offices. The Erie-St. Clair and Waterloo Wellington Regional Cancer Programs collaboratively created a comparable Flu-FOBT program that can be easily adapted within Ontario to increase colorectal cancer screening rates. In total, 293 underscreened patients were invited to attend one of the Flu-FOBT clinics. The Flu-FOBT clinic was a success, educating and distributing 82 FOBT kits. In total, 16% of the identified eligible population of the offices completed an FOBT kit within six weeks of the first clinic date.
