Community oncology clinics

For anyone who has lived with a diagnosis of cancer, or has supported a friend or loved one, you know the toll that this illness can carry. The added burden that comes from travelling to and from appointments is immeasurable. Community oncology clinics within community hospitals allow some patients to receive some of their care closer to home.

The Waterloo Wellington Regional Cancer Program works with the following hospitals to do this:

  • Cambridge Memorial Hospital

  • Groves Memorial Community Hospital (Fergus)

  • Guelph General Hospital

  • Louise Marshall Hospital (Mount Forest)

We care for patients with a variety of cancers, but due to the complexity of certain cancers, some patients may be referred elsewhere for their care.

The impact that this program has on patients’ quality of life is tremendous. We’ve been able to greatly decrease hours of travel and provide access to high quality, evidence-based care close to home.

If you have any questions, please call Donna Van Allen, program director of systemic therapy and community oncology at 519-749-4370 ext 5737.
